Both adults and children who are HIV positive, and/or their loved ones, are eligible for professional counseling services.
How to access this service
Complete an application at the Family Services main counseling center located at 815 W. Oak St. Visalia, CA. 93291. Applicants should provide proof of income in order to set a fee for any services requested that are outside the scope of free services.
What will it cost?
Counseling for HIV positive individuals and their significant others are provided at no cost for issues that relate to the impact of the disease and maintenance of optimal health. Clients seeking counseling for issues unrelated to living with HIV/AIDS will have a fee set based on their income.
Support Groups
Who is eligible?
Both adults and children who are HIV positive, and/or their loved ones, are eligible for the support group.
How to access this service
The HIV/AIDS support group is an open-entry group meaning a person may start at any time and is not required to attend any specific number of sessions. For more information on the dates and location of this group contact the main counseling center (559)741-7310.

The support group is free of charge.
Financial and Support Services
Who is eligible?
Individuals who are HIV positive and, in some cases, their significant others may qualify for this service. Applicants must provide income information, proof of HIV status, and proof of residency in Tulare County.
How does it work
Applicants may apply for assistance that helps them to access and maintain compliance with medical care and to maintain optimum health. Examples include gas or public transportation vouchers to get to medical appointments; financial coverage of health insurance, medication or medical treatment when no other resources are available, or assistance with maintaining housing.
How to access this service
Individuals receiving case management services through the Tulare County Health and Human Services Department will be referred by their case manager. Self referrals may call directly to Family Services at 559-741-7310 and ask to speak to the HIV/AIDS Emergency Services Coordinator to get further information.
