Since 1992 Family Services has been a partner with the Tulare County Health and Human Service Agency to provide services intended to increase access to care, to maintain optimum physical and emotional health, and to improve the quality of life for those affected by the AIDS epidemic.

Family Services' therapists go to clinics and homes to assist Nurse Case Managers from Tulare County Health and Human Services to assess, support, and provide information and referrals to people living with AIDS and their families.

Family Services' therapists and project staff also provide the following services at our office:

Individual, couples and/or family counseling
Counseling can address issues such as:

Coping and adjusting to living with HIV.

Dealing with grief, loss and depression. 

Healthy decision-making for maintaining health.

Alcohol or drug dependency.

Managing anxiety and stress.
Improving communication with family and loved ones.
Support Groups
Weekly support groups offer:

Education about the disease's progression.

Relapse prevention awareness.

Special group nights for family and friends.

Peer support.
Problem solving.
Financial and Support Services
Family Services provides eligible HIV positive individuals with financial support or vouchers necessary to enable recipients to access and remain in primary health care and maintain health.
This could include:

Food vouchers, vitamins or nutritional supplements.

Assistance with medical or dental treatment, health insurance or medication costs.

Gas or public transportation vouchers.

Services to prevent homelessness.
