Who is eligible for this service?

Children or teens between the ages of 3-18 years and their family can be served at the Center.   Licensed therapists are trained to work with children who have emotional or behavioral problems stemming from experiencing or witnessing abuse or trauma, from problems in family relationships and functioning, from losses or attachment issues, or from adjustment problems in their school, neighborhood or home environment.

How does it work?
During the initial visits, the child therapist assesses needs and develops a treatment plan with parent and child input. The plan could include group counseling, individual therapy for the child, or a combination of parent-child or family therapy. The parent may also be referred to other services offered by the agency such as a counseling or support group, parenting class or individual counseling.   This plan is reviewed with the parent and/or child depending on age, at six week intervals.

What does it cost?
The fees related to these services differ depending on the presenting problem. If the child is a victim of crime, they may be eligible for a reduced fee or free services through Victims of Crime funding or other related grant funding. If the counseling services are not related to treatment of the effects of abuse or neglect, a fee will likely be required. Health Insurance is accepted. For individuals without insurance, fees are based on family income. Therefore, income verification will be needed to establish a fee.
