The mission of Family Services is to help children, adults, and families throughout Tulare County heal from violence and thrive in healthy relationships.
Family Services will accomplish this mission through direct services, advocacy, counseling, education and training to: |
Break the cycle of violence |
Encourage self-reliance |
Promote healthy decision-making among people of all incomes and nationalities. |
In all programs, Family Services will stress professionalism, respectful partnership with clients, ethical conduct, cultural competency, and collaboration with other agencies.
THE AGENCY WORKS IN TWO BROAD AREAS:
Violence and Abuse Prevention, Intervention and Treatment focused on adults and children affected by Domestic or Family Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse. |
Family and Individual Emotional Health and Wellness focused on positive parenting including parenting healthy children through divorce, family communication, and general marriage, family and child counseling. |
Family Services' staff, Board members and volunteers work at the community and State level to raise awareness of and encourage a collaborative community response to domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. This work includes leadership roles in the Tulare County Sexual Assault Response Team, the Tulare County Domestic Violence Task Force, the Tulare County Child Abuse Prevention Council, as well as active participation in Regional and State Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault coalitions. Family Services' staff, volunteers, and Board members also seek opportunities for media exposure, speaking engagements to groups, and advocacy to elected officials and other policy makers, in an effort to bring attention to social issues and encourage action to protect individuals from violence and assault.
